HERLY

Herly is less than 50 miles from Calais, approximatley a one hour drive. Travelling via Boulogne gives you the opportunities to stop at the hypermarkets.

Herly is a typical Pas de Calais village. A small hamlet of low red roofed houses and farms surrounded by fields. It is a farming region so the fields reflect the changing seasons with the various crops. Several of the village farms have dairy herds, one farmer uses the field bordering on "La Maison de Monsieur Scarecrow" so the odd inquisitive cow may mooch around the fence watching your activities.

A welcome pack and folder has details of some of the many attractions in the area. A few places to note are mentioned below.

DISTANCES TO NEARBY TOWNS:

Hucqueliers, 5 mile away, is the nearest town with all facilities - supermarket, cafes, restaurant, butchers, bakers, pharmacy, post office, garage etc.

The nearby towns of Fruges, Desvres, and Hesdin all have weekly outdoor markets, great for atmosphere - definitely French, and fun shopping.

There are several interesting towns within a short range: Montreuil and Boulogne have old city centres and ramparts to walk round.

The battlefields of Agincourt, Crecy and the Somme can be visited along with their excellent museums .

Miles of golden beaches and sand dunes await you on the Côte d'Opale. For the more adventurous there is surfing and sand yachting. Why not try an introductory lesson?

Le Touquet, the St Tropez of the north, is the seaside resort that became popular in the 1920's and it still retains much of the charm from that era.

Also on the Coast is the Ornithological nature reserve of Marquenterre and inland the reclaimed marches of Clairmarais where flat bottom boats glide through the waterways.

Herly is on the northern edge of the beautiful Seven Valleys. A world away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Rivers and streams meander through rolling countryside, down narrow valleys, past tranquil hamlets nestling in the lush landscape.
