La Maison de Monsieur Scarecrow
Our home is a fermette (small farmhouse) traditional of the Pas de Calais region. Over the last few years the original barns and stables have been extensively renovated and converted into comfortable self catering accommodation.
Herly is a rural village situated a one hour drive south-east of Calais on the northern edge of the beautiful Seven Valleys. (See The Region for more details)
The stables comprise of a large (72m²) salon with exposed beams and a wood burning fire. If you are renting both La Maison and Le Stables the salon will adequately meet the needs of a larger group for dining and relaxing. With Agincourt only a few miles down the road we have worked at giving this room an air of medieval grandeur but with 20th century comforts. (Including TV with freeview for English programmes, DVD & CD player)
The fully equipped kitchen includes gas oven, fridge, chest freezer, dishwasher and microwave.
4 en suite bedrooms each have a double and a single bed.
Bed linen is available for hire. (14 euros per person, payable in euros on arrival)
Baby equipment is available (cot, high chair, bath and alarm). Please request on booking.
All bedrooms have electric wall heaters.
The bedroom doors open onto the covered veranda which overlooks the orchard garden. The garden is private apart from the odd inquisitive cow peering over the fence from the neighbouring field.
Outside the kitchen door is the decking area. Perfect for alfresco breakfast or dining. To the side is the stone built BBQ.
The utility room has a washer, drier and ironing equipment.
The large courtyard is ideal for playing the French game of boules as well as providing ample parking for cars.
A two minute walk away is the village football field idea for more energetic games and kite flying. (Kite flying is a very popular activity on many of the local beaches).
At Le Stables there is a folder and a welcome pack with information and Ideas both practical and fun aimed at making your holiday a happy and a memorable one.
Le Stables adjoins La maison: A 3 bedroom gite for 6 persons. Together the 2 gites are ideal for groups of up to 14
